Unha vez celebrada a activación hai que indicar que foi realmente excepcional. O espectáculo da lúa e do sol, irrepetible. Non agardabamos que fora do xeito que foi. Dende a Pena do Pico (1.200m) toda a xente que alí había non puido deixar de aplaudir ante tanta beleza. A verdade que foi impresionante. A sombra no medio e medio da paisaxe mirando cara Santiago e cara o sur pouco a pouco de escuro a claro xa no límite do horizonte.
E coa sombra total quedei sen palabras coa claridade da eclipse, a definición con que se vía, o ambiente irreal que non se parece en nada ao que levo vivido. E cando a luz do sol comezaba a saír polos bordos, foi sinxelamente magnífica a imaxe, tan irreal, tan fóra do cotiá, cun brillo co non sei que comparar. Quedamos realmente abraidados, e coma nós a xente que estaba alí.
E dende o punto de vista da radio foi sensacional, 3 horas e case 100 contactos. Moitos xa escribiron ao correo electrónico e outros moitos deixaron mensaxes e QSL´s no cluster. A primeira vez dunha experiencia na que no canto de facer esforzos por ser escoitados, foron as estacións de radio europeas as que facían esforzos para ser escoitados. Houbo momentos onde se amoreaban as chamadas de 6 en 6. O da eclipse foi unha oportunidade que non había que perder. Todos os que sabían da activación querían falar cun país no que ía suceder unha eclipse total. A primeira terra que tocaba a sombra da eclipse (sen contar un chisquiño de Islandia e Grenlandia). A páxina www.radiogaliza.gal foi visitada para obter a información (ao igual ca o clúster) e xusto nese día fora actualizada para poder ser vista mellor nos móbiles.
En fin, foi unha tarde moi produtiva e satisfactoria. Agora comezamos a traballar para contestar a toda esa xentiña de Irlanda, Inglaterra, Gales, Francia, Galiza, España, Italia, Bélxica, Holanda, Dinamarca, Alemaña, Suíza, País de Gales, Escocia…. A algúns xa lles tarda e escriben varias veces impacientes.
Hai que engadir a esta experiencia a xente que veu falar para que lles contara que facía alí. Foi moi agradable falar con xente curiosa que se abraia con outras formas de ver unha eclipse como esta a través da radio. Foi un verdadeiro pracer.
A propagación nos minutos arredor da eclipse total foi perdendo forza recuperándose logo ata que xa de noite foi desaparecendo pouco a pouco. Esa foi cando menos a primeira impresión. Agardamos os estudos feitos con ciencia cidadá e ver os resultados da experimentación.

Once the activation was held, it must be said that it was truly exceptional. The spectacle of the moon and the sun, unrepeatable. We did not expect it to be the way it was. From Pena do Pico (1,200m) all the people who were there could not stop applauding at such beauty. The truth is that it was impressive. The shadow in the middle of the landscape looking towards Santiago and towards the south gradually from dark to light already at the edge of the horizon.
And with the total shadow I was speechless with the clarity of the eclipse, the definition with which it was seen, the unreal atmosphere that is nothing like what I have experienced. And when the sunlight began to come out at the edges, the image was simply magnificent, so unreal, so out of the ordinary, with a brightness that I do not know how to compare. We were truly amazed, and so were the people who were there.
And from the radio point of view it was sensational, 3 hours and almost 100 contacts. Many have already written to the email and many others have left messages and QSLs in the cluster.
The first time in an experience in which instead of making efforts to be heard, it was the European radio stations that made efforts to be heard. There were moments where the calls piled up 6 by 6. The eclipse was an opportunity not to be missed. Everyone who knew about the activation wanted to talk to a country in which a total eclipse was going to happen. The first land that touched the shadow of the eclipse (not counting a little bit of Iceland and Greenland). This page www.radiogaliza.gal was visited to obtain the information (as was the cluster) and just that day it had been updated to be better viewed on mobile phones.
In short, it was a very productive and satisfying afternoon. Now we are starting to work to answer all those people from Ireland, England, Wales, France, Galicia, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Switzerland, Wales, Scotland… Some of them are already taking a while and have written several times impatiently.
We must add to this experience the people who came to talk to me so that I could tell them what I was doing there. It was very nice to talk to curious people who are amazed by other ways of seeing an eclipse like this through the radio. It was a real pleasure.
The propagation in the minutes around the total eclipse was losing strength, then recovering until it gradually disappeared at night. That was at least the first impression. We await the studies done with citizen science and to see the results of the experimentation.

RADIO ACTIVITY AND THE ECLIPSE
How can a total solar eclipse affect the propagation of radio waves? We will find out throughout the evening and night of this Wednesday, August 12, 2016.
A 1.200 metros de altura emitiremos ondas de radio na banda libre de 11m (27 MHz) e observaremos ademais do espectáculo astronómico, como se comportan as ondas de radio nestas frecuencias ante un fenómeno que non se vai repetir en Galiza até dentro de moito tempo, fóra xa do noso alcance. A liña chamada terminador é a que separa a zona de día da de escuridade na atmosfera da Terra. É ben sabido que esta zona fai posible contactos de radio que poden non ser posibles antes e despois deste breve período de tempo que pode durar unha ou varias horas. Como afectará a sombra que proxectan sol e lúa sobre a superficie terrestres a estas ondas de radio?
O terminador será aplicable tamén nas eclipses de sol totais?
At 1,200 meters high we will emit radio waves in the free band of 11m (27 MHz) and we will observe, in addition to the astronomical spectacle, how radio waves behave at these frequencies in the face of a phenomenon that will not be repeated in Galiza for a long time, out of our reach.
The line called the terminator is the one that separates the day zone from the darkness zone in the Earth’s atmosphere. It is well known that this zone makes possible radio contacts that may not be possible before and after this brief period of time that can last one or several hours.
How will the shadow that the sun and moon cast on the Earth’s surface affect these radio waves?
Will the terminator also be applicable in total solar eclipses?
